Statement from Senate President Pro Tempore David B. McBride on the massacre in Las Vegas

Senate President Pro Tempore David B. McBride issued the following statement regarding last night's mass shooting in Las Vegas:
"The reports coming out of Las Vegas have been withering. The four deadliest mass shootings in modern American history have all happened since 2007; the deadliest happened last night. I used to worry that we might become desensitized to the violence, but I’ve come to find that the opposite has been true. I’m more sickened each time that I wake up to news like this. People across the world are calling their loved ones to make sure they’re alive today. I’m praying for someone to answer each of those calls, but I know that more than 50—including two police officers—won’t. In the coming days we’ll learn more about the shooter, his motives, and the laws and culture surrounding guns in America. Today, we should mourn for the fallen and their families."
