REMINDER: Dedication of new George White Lynching historical marker is this Sunday

PRICES CORNER – The Delaware Legislative Black Caucus will unveil a replacement historical marker commemorating the 1903 lynching of laborer George White during a special ceremony at Greenbank Park this Sunday.
The new marker will replace the original that was stolen roughly six weeks after it was first installed in late June.
Sunday’s event will feature a performance by the Delaware State University Choir, a prayer from Stated Clerk Bob Schminkey of New Castle Presbytery and a soil collection ceremony overseen by a representative from the Equal Justice Initiative, a nonprofit founded by nationally renowned criminal justice reform advocate and Delaware native Bryan Stevenson.

Speakers are slated to include Savannah Shepherd, Senator Darius Brown, Lieutenant Governor Bethany Hall-Long, Governor John Carney and New Castle County Executive Matt Meyer.
