DOVER – Senator Harris McDowell released the following statement regarding the Joint Finance Committee’s quick completion of the state budget bill.
“I am happy to report that we have officially completed and introduced a balanced state budget for Fiscal Year 2019. This year’s budget process was the fastest and most efficient in my 42 years in state government. We made a lot of tough decisions last year, but they have allowed us to balance the state’s checkbook this year in a way that is socially and fiscally responsible. This year’s budget gives state employees a raise for the first time in years, increases special education funding for students that were previously left out, and even saves $46 million for next year. Thank you to all my colleagues on the Joint Finance Committee for their help making such efficient work of this monumental task.”
